ARPA COBRA Premium Subsidy Updates

CHOICE Administrators has provided updated COBRA (Federal) and Cal-COBRA premium subsidy information regarding The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA).

Updates and Notice of AEI Form:

  • ChoiceBuilder ARPA COBRA and Cal-COBRA Information

Your groups should review the updates and submit the completed Notice of AEI Form by June 14, 2021. Get the updates and form.

Agent Agreement Amendment

The CaliforniaChoice and ChoiceBuilder Agent Agreement has been amended as follows:

  • Six Month Commission Consideration Eliminated
    When a group chooses a new broker during the first six months following the original sold effective date, the new broker shall begin receiving commissions the first of the following month, consistent with the new Broker of Record (BOR) effective date.
  • 14 Day Rescission Period Eliminated
    Upon being awarded a BOR on an existing CaliforniaChoice group, brokers will now have immediate access to the group’s policy and plan information beginning on the date for which the BOR request is processed.
  • New Commission Payment Methods
    Brokers will be required to receive commissions via direct deposit or a new pre-paid debit card.

To avoid commission payment interruptions, a signed Agent Agreement Amendment must be returned to CaliforniaChoice. Get the Agent Agreement Amendment and instructions.

2022 HSA and HDHP Limits

The IRS announced 2022 inflation-adjusted amounts for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), HSA-qualified High Deductible Health Plans (HDHPs), and accepted benefit Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs).

2022 HSA Limits

  • Contribution Limit: Self-Only $3,650, Family $7,300.
  • Catch-Up Contribution: $1,000 (age 55 or older).

2022 HDHP Limits

  • Minimum Deductibles: Self-Only $1,400, Family $2,800.
  • Maximum Out-of-Pocket: Self-Only $7,050, Family $14,000.
