2022 Small Group Special Enrollment Period:
Carrier Guidelines

If you have small business clients that are enrolled in individual market coverage, are unable to meet carrier participation requirements, have dual-carriers, or don't meet employer premium contribution requirements, the small group SEP is a great solution. Plus, it provides year-end sales opportunities.

By law, all carriers are required to offer the SEP one time per year with a $0 contribution requirement and no minimum participation requirement for small groups. The application period is from November 15 to December 15, 2021, for coverage effective January 1, 2022. Carrier administration of the SEP may vary slightly, including recertification at renewal. Q1-2022 Rates and Marketing Materials

As of October 7th, Blue Shield's Q1-2022 rates are live in PRISM, our free and easy online quoting system.

Q1-2022 medical and specialty sales guides, new enrollment forms, underwriting guidelines, marketing materials, flyers, and other 2022 documents are available on Blue Shield's website.

• Relaxed participation promotion for small businesses has been extended through December 31, 2022.
• Small Business Incentive Program is available for effective dates through January 2022. Groups written through Claremont are eligible for this program.
