Blue Shield of California recently shared several updates for Small and Large Group brokers.

• 2027 HSA-Compatible Plan Deductibles
  IRS minimum deductible requirements for HSA-compatible plans will increase in 2027:
  • Individual: $1,750, up from $1,700
  • Family: $3,500, up from $3,400

• Webinar: Small Group Q1- 2027 Broker Roadshow
  Blue Shield will host its annual Small Business Broker Roadshow on September 22 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. to review Q1-2027 updates. Register for the Roadshow.

• Large Group: MCO Tax Update
  Blue Shield will exclude the anticipated $8.85 PMPM California MCO tax from January 1, 2027, fully insured and flex-funded Large Group renewal and new business rates. Groups that already received quotes including the tax will receive revised pricing. CMS approval and regulatory guidance remain pending, so future pricing adjustments may be necessary.
