Senior Broker Services Representative

We have an immediate opening for a Senior Broker Services Representative with extensive group benefits experience who is highly proficient in the RFP and ancillary quoting processes, can successfully manage day-to-day enrollment support requests and has experience managing the group application processing (Underwriting).

Position Summary

The Broker Service Representative III (BSR III) works directly with clients, carrier partners, fellow service team members, and Customer Engagement Managers, to match the needs of our clients with the right deliverables from Claremont’s (“our” or “the Company’s”) menu of services. As a BSR III, you will manage the execution of those deliverables by the BSR team or provide the service yourself, with ultimate responsibility for quality, consistency, and timeliness.

Essential Duties

  • This position will have a special emphasis on ancillary quoting, including running ancillary quotes through the carrier portals and/or following the RFP process to obtain quotes directly from carrier partners.
  • Demonstrate a high level of knowledge and understanding of our product and services.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of our partners’ features and benefits.
  • Responsible for upholding our quality, consistency, and timeliness standards.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with members of the sales and marketing teams to facilitate the best customer experience possible.
  • Maintain and continually add skills and knowledge so you can execute the functional tasks of a broker services representative in at least three key areas:
    • Quoting
    • Eligibility Determination and Application Processing (Underwriting)
    • Enrollment Support (during the plan year)
  • Serve customers professionally and thoughtfully.
  • On a case-by-case basis assure that we have a full and complete understanding of a client’s objective and that the client is apprised of where and how we can meet their objective.
  • Guide and mentor less-experienced service team members to assure customer service standards are met and to help them develop professionally.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with carrier partners.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of carrier products, market segments, rates, underwriting guidelines, submission requirements, and other administrative requirements.
  • High willingness to adopt, learn and integrate technology into the execution of essential job duties.
  • Very comfortable using software platforms such as: quoting engines (like HealthConnect), Office Productivity (like the Microsoft Office suite), document creation/editing (such as Acrobat), document management (such as Box), CRM (such as Salesforce), virtual meeting software (such as Zoom) and benefits administration (such as Ease).
  • Familiarity with basic business equipment including multi-line desk phone, cell phone, voicemail, photocopier, scanner, and personal computer.
  • Knowledge of fundamental business protocols including but not limited to alpha filing, telephone, email, instant messaging and online meeting/presentation etiquette, documentation, record keeping, and basic quality assurance techniques.
  • Knowledge of routine business communication methods such as the style and format of letters, emails, memoranda, meeting notes, and reports.
  • Customer care techniques and skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.


  • Minimum of two years of post-secondary education, and/or 3 to 5 years in customer service position in which similar knowledge, skills, and abilities were utilized.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Health insurance background with Department of Insurance Life License required.
  • Extensive knowledge of ancillary lines (dental/vision/life/disability/voluntary coverage).
  • Fluent in Spanish (written and oral) preferred.
  • Travel may be required by car. Proof of insurance and a clean Department of Motor Vehicles record will be required.
