Covered California for Small Business –
New Blue Shield Plans

Starting July 1, Covered California for Small Business (CCSB) is offering new Blue Shield plans, providing more options for enrollees. These plans include the Access+ HMO Network with Platinum, Gold, and Silver metal tier options, as well as the Bronze Trio HMO 7000/70. The two most popular Blue Shield High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP), Silver Full PPO Savings 2300/25% and Bronze Full PPO Savings 7000 plans, are also now available.

All of these plans offer benefits such as Wellvolution, Teladoc Mental Health, Nurse Help 24/7, LifeReferrals 24/7, and the Blue Card program for when members are outside of California.

To help ease the financial strain on employer groups, Blue Shield is applying a one-time premium credit to their November billing cycle.

The Premium Credit Program will apply a one-time 10% credit on monthly medical premiums and a 30% credit on monthly dental and/or vision premiums. The credit will be calculated based on the customer’s October premium and it’ll be reflected on the November billing statement. Groups through Covered California will have the credit applied to their December bills.

Premium Credits Will Be Applied for:

Fully-insured employer group medical, dental and/or vision plans (excludes flex-funded).
Medicare Supplement medical, dental and/or vision plan subscribers.
IFP dental and/or vision plans (excludes IFP medical plans).

Premium credits will be applied automatically; no action is required from the customer. Learn more.

Ongoing Blue Shield COVID-19 Support Efforts Include:

Extending the commitment to waive co-payments, coinsurance, and deductibles for treatment of COVID-19 through December 31, 2020.
Continuing to cover costs for virtual care (medical and behavioral) services provided by Teladoc Health through December 31, 2020.
Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan providing $100,000 in grants to support nutrition for Southern Californians during the coronavirus pandemic.
Donating $500,000 to the Oakland COVID-19 Relief Fund to support pop-up coronavirus testing sites and other community initiatives.
Using the latest technology to deliver personalized care by using machine learning to identify members with heightened needs during the pandemic.
Protecting employees and limiting the possible spread of the virus by initiating a company-wide work-from-home plan while maintaining uninterrupted service to Blue Shield customers.
