Because of COVID-19, flu shots are more important than ever this year. Some experts fear a potential “twindemic” from COVID-19 and the seasonal flu — two epidemics happening at the same time. Getting the flu shot is an easy way for employers to help protect the health of their employees and the community.
As you know, vaccines can greatly reduce the chance of employees contracting the flu, or from experiencing complications from the flu. The good news is most fully insured plans provide access to $0 flu shots because it’s a covered preventive care benefit provided by the Affordable Care Act.
It’s best to get the shot early in the season, such as in the fall, for maximum protection, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). But you can still get your flu shot while the flu viruses are circulating later in the season.
