Blue Shield Q1-2023 Updates

Below are the Q1-2023 updates announced by Blue Shield of California. Make sure to enroll and take advantage of the Small Business Incentive Program and the Renewal Rewards Program.

Q1-2023 Rates

• Rates are now available for quoting through PRISM, our free and easy online quoting system.
• The Q1-2023 rate action is a statewide average of 2.1%.

Medical Plan Updates

• On and off-exchange plans have minimal cost share changes which will impact the plan names for 2023.
• The Bronze HMO 7000/70 for 2022 is only available on the Trio network. For 2023, the plan will be expanded and available on the Access+ and Local Access+ network in addition to the Trio network.
  – Professional services are not subject to a deductible which allows members to access services before meeting the high deductible.
• Effective January 1, 2023, the Trio ACO HMO network will expand to include additional parts of Monterey (19 new zip codes added).

Specialty Plan Updates

Eight new dental PPO plans will be added:

• Bronze DPPO/$1500/MAC
• Bronze DPPO/$1500/MAC/Child Only Ortho
• Bronze Voluntary DPPO/$1500/MAC
• Bronze Voluntary DPPO/$1500/MAC/Child Only Ortho
• Gold DPPO/$1500/MAC
• Gold DPPO/$1500/MAC/Adult and Child Ortho
• Gold DPPO/$2000/MAC
• Gold DPPO/$2000/MAC/Adult and Child Ortho

Teladoc

Blue Shield members have access to Teladoc’s national network of U.S. board-certified physicians. Teladoc medical doctors are available 24/7/365 by phone or video. Get the details.

Relaxed Participation Program

Extended through December 31, 2023. Learn more.

Broker Bonus Programs

• Small Business Incentive Program – Extended through June 30, 2023.
  Earn points for qualified sales and redeem them for rewards from hundreds of great options, such as gift cards, electronics, and more. Or convert points into cash with a Visa gift card.
  – Keep track of what you’ve earned by enrolling in the Blue Shield Producer Rewards Program. To get started, sign up through the Broker Connection.
• Renewal Rewards for Producers
  Earn points for each new employee and dependent enrolled in a Tandem PPO plan. Additional bonus points are awarded for dental, vision, and/or life plans. Double points are awarded for each new enrolled member in all three specialty plans.
• Groups written through Claremont are eligible for both programs.
