Covered California for Small Business –
New Blue Shield Plans

Starting July 1, Covered California for Small Business (CCSB) is offering new Blue Shield plans, providing more options for enrollees. These plans include the Access+ HMO Network with Platinum, Gold, and Silver metal tier options, as well as the Bronze Trio HMO 7000/70. The two most popular Blue Shield High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP), Silver Full PPO Savings 2300/25% and Bronze Full PPO Savings 7000 plans, are also now available.

All of these plans offer benefits such as Wellvolution, Teladoc Mental Health, Nurse Help 24/7, LifeReferrals 24/7, and the Blue Card program for when members are outside of California.

Covered California for Small Business (also known as SHOP: Small Business Health Options Program) is a health insurance marketplace that offers small businesses (1-100 employees) a choice of quality, affordable health insurance from multiple trusted carriers. Business owners and their employees can easily find a plan that fits their needs and budget.

New Group Submissions

Claremont is here to assist you by providing carrier and product information, plan quotes and comparisons, employer presentations, open enrollment assistance and more, for a variety of products offered through Covered California.

Plan summaries, enrollment and change forms, and information about Covered California for Small Business and our other carriers are always available through Claremont. Request materials online at materials@claremontcompanies.com or call our broker service representatives at 800.696.4543.

Enrollment Guidelines

  1. Paper applications and supporting documents should be received by Claremont no later than the last week of the month for coverage effective the following month.
  2. It’s recommended, but not required, that you forward Claremont a check from your client, made payable to Covered California, in the amount of the quote for the initial premium. Alternatively, you and your client can wait until you have received an invoice from Covered California.

Please note: to enroll a group with Covered California, an agent must be a Certified Insurance Agent. To confirm your certification, search for your name on Covered California. Agent training and certification information is available here.

Assigning Claremont as Your General Agent
Upon receipt of your completed paper applications (hard copy, faxed or scanned via email), Claremont will be automatically assigned as your General Agent and we will begin processing those applications on your behalf.
