This course will discuss recently signed legislation in California related to health/life agents and their employer clients. They will discuss SB 770, which directs the California Department of Health & Human Services to begin discussions with the Federal Government to see if the state can have funds from Medicare and Medicaid (Medi-Cal) redirected into a state fund to finance single payer healthcare in the future, as well as other Single Payer bills. Other California bills signed into law include AB 451 on Insurance License Examinations, AB 716 Ground Medical Transportation, AB 1048 Dental Benefits & Rate Reviews, AB 1241 MediCal Telehealth, and SB 793 Insurance Privacy Notices and Personal Information.
In addition, they will cover the following new and changes to existing laws, including updates on the Transparency in Coverage (TiC) Final Rule, Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (CAA), and a roundup on new federal and state developments impacting employee benefits and insurance (1-HR CE).
