Blue Shield - New Virtual Blue Plans

The Virtual Blue plans give members (small and large groups) the choice of virtual or in-person care. Virtual care includes $0 unlimited visits to primary care, behavioral health and specialty care through a new partnership with AccoladeCare. In-person care is available through the Tandem PPO network in California and via BlueCard when outside of the state.

The two Virtual Blue small group plans available in PRISM are the Virtual Blue Gold Tandem PPO 1500/45 and Virtual Blue Bronze Tandem PPO 7500/75. These can be identified by ‘Virtual Blue’ in the plan name.

When using the PRISM filter options for Narrow or Broad networks, select ‘All’ networks instead of ‘Broad’ only networks to generate plans for Blue Shield’s Virtual Blue, Trio HMO, and Tandem PPO plans.

Position Summary

Looking to bring your sales skills and group benefits experience to a growing organization? Have experience in the health insurance industry and/or employee benefits and a strong network of brokers relationships? This position on our sales team provides an excellent opportunity for the right candidate. Your experience in the group benefits market is highly valued by our broker-clients and you will play a strategic role in helping them grow their book of business while you pursue sales opportunities.

Reporting to the Director of Sales, you will win business and meet sales objectives by delivering superior sales strategies and solutions to our broker-partners. You will be an expert in Claremont’s full suite of services and work collaboratively with brokers to close business with their clients, solve problems and provide carrier market knowledge to brokers and their staff.

  • Advanced knowledge of the group benefits market including: carrier products and underwriting requirements, tools and technologies used by brokers and the factors that drive broker behavior.
  • Confidence to engage with brokers and their staff at a strategic level.
  • Ability to set appointments, cultivate prospects and manage a consistent sales pipeline that attains sales goals.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, and strong team player.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate in person, by telephone, via video-conference, messaging, and team collaboration systems.
  • Knowledge of a full menu of benefit products is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of experience in a sales position in the group benefits market or two years of post-secondary education with 5-7 years of experience in a sales position in the group benefits market.
  • Current California Life and Health license.


Salary plus generous incentive compensation and excellent benefits. Salary range: $80,000 – 85,000.
