Small Business Incentive Program

‘A Partnership That Pays’ Broker Bonus Program

Agents who place new small group business with Covered California for Small Business (CCSB) from July 1, 2022 – January 1, 2023, can earn up to a $8,000 bonus per group, in addition to competitive commissions. You’ll earn $1,000 for groups with as few as six enrolled employees and up to $8,000 for groups with 51-100 enrolled employees. Best of all, the bonus is per group with no maximum number of groups!

Multi-Product Advantage

Earn 1.5% additional broker compensation when selling dental plus two coverages.
How it works:

  • Step 1: sell a dental plan and at least two new coverages from two or more different product groups.
  • Step 2: verify qualifying criteria and ensure that each case has dental coverage, 10-99 eligible lives, and 10+ lives enrolled in each product. All coverages must be sold and implemented at the same time.
  • Step 3: earn an additional one-time payment of 1.5% of the annualized premium for each product sold.

2022 Bonus Programs

Production Bonus
The more you sell, the higher the bonus factor. Whether you sell several smaller cases or just a few larger cases, you can qualify for a production bonus based on new sale credits for each of these qualifying coverages or services. The bonus applies to any new business written between January 1, 2022 and December 1, 2022.

Premium Persistency Bonus
The more premium you retain the higher the bonus factor. The bonus applies to new business written through January 1, 2023.

Qualifying For The Production and Premium Persistency Bonus Programs

Earn one new sale credit for each of these qualifying coverages or services:

  • Voluntary or non-voluntary dental, STD, LTD, life or vision.
  • Voluntary accident or critical illness.
  • Employer-sponsored individual disability insurance (IDI).
  • eBenefits Edge Total Management (Total Management) services sold.

Privileged Partner Program

With two levels of recognition: Elite and Platinum, the Privileged Partner Program membership is based on the number of new Principal coverages, the premium persistency of the broker’s group benefits block with Principal, and for Elite qualifiers, the amount of inforce premium.

Qualification Criteria:

  • Elite – 60 new coverages, 85% premium persistency, and $500,000 inforce premium in the previous calendar year OR 40 new coverages, 85% premium persistency, and $2.5 million inforce premium in the previous calendar year.
  • Platinum – 30 new coverages and 85% premium persistency.

Additional Bonus

Elite and Platinum brokers can earn an additional bonus for placing and maintaining group benefits with Principal.

Qualification Criteria and Bonus Formula:

  • Elite or Platinum qualifier and 40-49 new coverages – 1% x annualized first-year premium.
  • Elite or Platinum qualifier and 50+ new coverages – 2% x annualized first-year premium.

Premier Producer Program

Earn more as you write more when you sell RSL SmartChoice® small group insurance products.

  • The two-part three-tier Premier Producer Program includes new sales and persistency incentives for 2022.
  • New Business – potential incentive compensation of 2.5% to 4.0% of new earned premium.
  • Renewal Business – potential incentive compensation of 1.5% to 3% of earned premium/renewal. To qualify, agents must first qualify for at least Tier I of the New Business incentive.
  • All Incentives are paid in addition to standard SmartChoice® commissions.
  • Agents must be appointed with Reliance Standard to participate and be eligible for the Premier Producer Program.
