Starting July 1, Covered California for Small Business (CCSB) is offering new Blue Shield plans, providing more options for enrollees. These plans include the Access+ HMO Network with Platinum, Gold, and Silver metal tier options, as well as the Bronze Trio HMO 7000/70. The two most popular Blue Shield High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP), Silver Full PPO Savings 2300/25% and Bronze Full PPO Savings 7000 plans, are also now available.
All of these plans offer benefits such as Wellvolution, Teladoc Mental Health, Nurse Help 24/7, LifeReferrals 24/7, and the Blue Card program for when members are outside of California.

Effective January 2023, Blue Shield of California is launching two new Virtual Blue plans, available in both the Small Group and Large Group portfolios.
The new Virtual Blue plans give members the choice of virtual or in-person care. Virtual care includes $0 unlimited visits to primary care, behavioral health and specialty care through a new partnership with AccoladeCare. In-person care is available through the Tandem PPO network in California and via BlueCard when outside of the state.

Blue Shield of California has not yet reached an agreement on rates and terms of contracts with Rady Children’s Health Network (RHCN), Rady Children’s Hospitals in San Diego, and Choice Medical Group. Without an agreement, the terminations will become effective as follows:
Blue Shield is preparing a smooth transition to alternate PCPs and medical groups so members will continue to have uninterrupted access to quality care. If a member’s PCP is part of another in-network medical group, they’ll be assigned that same PCP. Otherwise, members will be assigned a new PCP based on geography and availability. PCP reassignment will not occur until the end of the contract period. Members may change their PCP at any time by using the Blue Shield Find a Doctor tool.

Effective January 1, 2023, Blue Shield of California Trio HMO and Local Access+ networks will expand in San Diego to include UC San Diego (UCSD) Health.
Not all UCSD Health locations or providers will be in the Trio HMO or Local Access+ networks. Blue Shield recommends using their Find a Doctor tool which has been updated to reflect this network expansion. You can also reference Blue Shield’s Network Comparison Tool for network options in San Diego.
Blue Shield members enrolled in a Trio HMO or Local Access+ plan can select primary care physicians, and gain access to specialists and facilities at these UCSD Health clinics:

Effective January 1, 2023, Blue Shield Trio is expanding to 27 total zip codes in Monterey County through a new ACO partnership with Aspire Health.
Covered communities will include Marina, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Seaside, Big Sur, Carmel Valley, Castroville, Chualar, Gonzales, Moss Landing, Salinas, Soledad, and Spreckels.
